Grinderman is a more rock-oriented project to explore once again the murky scuzz racket of his earlier band, The Birthday Party. The first fruits of the project were this self-titled debut, which also featured Cave's long-term right-hand man, Warren Ellis (The Dirty Three). The result was a raw and primal offering, sonically at odds with the more gentle yearning of his Bad Seeds work.
